Team News

On Tuesday, Brazil’s coach Tite revealed his starting line up for the World Cup Qualifier against Uruguay for Thursday in Montevideo.

The starting line-up for Brazil will be as follows:

Alisson, Miranda (Captain), Marquinhos, Dani Alves, Marcelo, Casemiro, Paulinho, Renato Augusto, Roberto Firminho, Neymar and Coutinho.

Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus will miss out due to a toe injury, while Chelsea’s Willian will drop to the bench being replaced by Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.

Brazil has been in devastating form since the Copa America Centenario, having won in every match they have played – even demolishing Argentina 3-0 and the also made easy work of Colombia. However, despite having a glorious history churned out by great players from Pele, Romario, Socrates, Garrincha, Zico, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and even Jairzinho – they have only recorded a mere two victories in all their visits to the Estadio Centenario.

Brazil have only conceded a single goal in their last five matches, the Selecao’s back line will also be rubbing their hands with glee, to know that Uruguay may be missing their talisman Luis Suarez, who is a major injury doubt.

Uruguay have won every World Cup Qualifier at home since March 2013 and they will want to exert some more misery to Brazil, despite the injury doubt to Luis Suarez. The match is the most anticipated match-up in this weekend’s World Cup Qualifiers.
